The Old Cowtown Museum, Wichita, Kansas

I left Coffeyville, Kansas on Friday on the way to Colorado.; however, the weather had other ideas for me. The wind had been gusting up to 45 miles per hour for two days. After driving for a few hours, I was worn out from fighting the wind. Even with the swaybar hitch, the wind really made the camper sway.

With high winds predicted for several more days, I decided to stay in Wichita until they passed. I found a great campground just outside Wichita, 4 Mile Creek Resort. I settled in and was ready to explore.

The first place I visited was The Old Cowtown Museum. The weather was sunny and a great day to be outside.

Old Cowtown is a living history museum that lets you immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and activities common to a Midwestern cattle town. You can experience life off the Chisholm Trail between 1865- 1880.

This post will focus on one of the homes in the town & the farm. I will have a second post on the businesses and stores.

Devore Farm & Smith Farmhouse

Hope you enjoy and I will part 2 tomorrow.

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!
