Pfanny’s Farm, Randolph, Nebraska

This post highlights another Harvest Host stay in Nebraska. I had a wonderful stay with Gene & Julie Pfanstiel at Pfanny’s Farm.

Meet your farmers…Gene is the brawn, the inventor, and the repairman! He is pictured here in all his romantic glory-this is the bouquet he presented his wifey-flags to mark the new asparagus bed!

Julie is a former “library lady”, she is the gatherer of ideas, the dreamer, the list maker, and the adventurer (she also pulls a lot of weeds)! In this photo, she is clothed in her tomato and raspberry-picking (mosquito avoiding) gear.

I arrived at Pfanny’s Farm after another windy day on the road. Julie greeted me when I came down the driveway & Gene helped me get my camper parked for the night.

I took a tour of the farm with another couple who was staying at the farm that night. Julie took the three of us on around her beautiful property.

We started with her flock of chickens.

Julie then showed us where she does her magic! We walked through her geo-thermal greenhouse and saw all her well loved plants, herbs & trees. She gave us baskets when we started the tour & we filled them up from her bounty.

We took home lemons, oranges, garlic straight out of the ground, fresh herbs & lemon leaves from one of the trees. Julie advised us to crush them and pour over hot water to make a tasty drink. It was perfect for the cold evening.

Julie was generous with her time and home. She answered all of our questions and even gave us a tour of the cottage they have available on Airbnb. You can take a tour here.

I had a special connection to Julie because she was a former “library lady,” too. When you are in Randolph, Nebraska, stop by and say hello to the Pfanstiels. They have lots of activities, including tours, workshops & even children’s programming. Do yourself a favor & spend some time here. You will be glad you did.

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!
