A Daytrip to Tuscany

Our tour of Tuscany began with fresh baked croissants & espresso.

Our first stop was in the Val d’Orcia region, near Siena.  A local tour guide led us up a steep road through a gate into the small town of Montepulciano.

Montepulciano has been a popular film location and you may recognize some of well-known movies filmed there:

  • A Midsummer Night’s Dream
  • Under the Tuscan Sun
  • The Twilight Saga: New Moon

One of the more unique sights in town was the Torre di Pulcinella.

Located on Piazza Michelozzo, the Pulcinella Clock Tower or Torre di Pulcinella, is a tower with a clock on top of it and a clown about to strike the bell.

The clown dressed in white and wearing a black mask, is a classical puppet character of the 17th century commedia dell’arte from Naples.

We had some free time for shopping & a look at the beautiful Tuscan countryside.

Tuscany was just as stunning in person as it is in the books I’ve read & the movies I’ve watched.  Stay tuned for more of our adventures!

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!
