After leaving Pfanny’s Farm, I headed north into South Dakota. I had another windy day and soon needed a break from the road.

My first overnight stay on the road in Nebraska was in Tekamah at the loveliest place, Maker’s Hand. It is a Harvest Host location with lots of extras. Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Visitor Center, Nebraska City, NE
Today was a busy day & I traveled through four states. I spent the last six months in Kansas and it was time to start the trip to Yellowstone.
Davis Memorial, Hiawatha, Kansas
This stop was listed on Atlas Obscura & I met a couple in Topeka who suggested I visit here, too. This massive marble memorial was built bit by bit either out of devotion or spite, but at the expense of the surrounding town.

When I am traveling, I spend my nights in a variety of places. When I am staying for more than one night, I look for a good campground. Kansas State Capitol, Topeka
While traveling, there are so many places you can go that are free. It is amazing what is out there just waiting to be discovered. The Kansas Capitol is one of these places and I even had a guided tour!
Brown v Board of Education National Historic Site, Topeka, Kansas
Monroe Elementary School houses the park visitor center. It was one of four segregated elementary schools for African Americans in Topeka.
