The countdown is on!

Today is my final day in Tabor City.

This time has given me a chance to settle into the camper and get all those last minute errands and tasks done. It is really sinking in how much I will miss everyone; however, this is not goodbye, just see you soon!

I have my route for the next two weeks mapped out. I will have two days with my son in the Gastonia/Charlotte area and two days with my mom in Bluefield, VA/WV. I am excited to see their reactions to the camper when they see it for the first time in person.

Since this is my first longer trip towing the camper, I will be going slowly. I plan on driving 3-4 hours each day with time for stops & setup before dark. The best part is that I have driven most of this route hundreds of times, so I am very comfortable.

I have a membership with Harvest Hosts and will be staying in a different location each night along the way. If you aren’t familiar with Harvest Hosts, check them out at https://harvesthosts.com/. Harvest Hosts allows unlimited overnight stays at over 2789+ incredible locations across North America. Hosts include wineries, farms, breweries, museums, golf courses and more. My first stay is at a mushroom farm and I am looking forward to learning a lot!

If you have any tips, hints or advice, please share!

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!

  1. I am so jealous. However, I know I would never be able to tow an rv! I have trouble backing up a Ford Focus! But I can dream

  2. Never heard of Harvest hosts! Sounds awesome – could make a day at each stop. What is in the first place you are stopping in Kentucky! This is not goodbye just – see you late!

  3. Hi Christi. My boyfriend and I just returned from four weeks in our motorhome traveling to Utah. I knew you were going on the road and thought about you occasionally. I also thought about the couple of novels we read in the book club about water because we traveled along the Colorado River and saw the low water levels in Lake Powell. I regret not stopping at the visitor Center at the Glen Canyon Dam. Traveling in an RV is an awesome way to see the country, and I look forward to hearing more about Harvest Hosts and your travels. If you are planning to visit any of the parks in Utah, let me know because there is a very special state park I can recommend. Diane

  4. We’ll be in Tabor City today, at Jellystone. Where are you staying near Charlotte? We’d love to head in that direction.
    Sincerely,

    1. I will be staying in Monroe one night and Gastonia one night. Monroe is at a mushroom farm, Sharonview Farm, and Gastonia is at a brewery, Cavendish Brewing. I know this will make my son happy! Hope you have fun in Tabor City. I have been in the country!

  5. If your up in the Georgetown area, and haven’t been to the Horse Park, it is worth a stop. Safe travels and keep sending pics. Love
