Safe in Kentucky

Thanks so much for all of the messages, texts, and calls after the Kentucky storms and tornadoes. I was very fortunate to be in an area right outside of Cincinnati that only saw hard rain, high winds and power outages.

I left work at 5 am yesterday and saw lots of downed limbs on the roads. When I arrived at the RV Park, it was completely black and the only light shining came from my camper! I am so lucky to have solar power as a back up source. The solar is enough to keep the important things running–the fridges, the lights and the heat. When I woke up this afternoon, the power was back on and it was time to go back to work.

Until next time, stay safe, stay well and stay warm!

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!

  1. Christie, β€˜So glad to hear you’re ok, I was just trying to figure out how to write to you after rewatching the news broadcasts.

Was your Amazon Warehouse the one partially destroyed? It looks like it’s approximately where you are-?

I was thinking if you were in your camper when the storm went thru you would have know to get to the stronger public bathroom facility…

    β€˜Take care!

    1. The Amazon warehouse I work at is in Hebron, KY. We knew about the weather and had a plan, if needed. The management at our facility is great.

At my campground, we have a large office/laundry/restroom/bathhouse area. It is where I would go in case of emergency.

It is so good to hear from you, Liz! Take care ❀

    1. So good to hear from you! I hope that you and Phil are both doing well. Are you getting ready to hit the road soon? It looks like I may be at West Yellowstone this summer. I received a job offer that is too good to turn down! The position runs from April – October. I hope we can meet up while you are out west! Love you lots πŸ’—

    1. Cappy does not do well with storms. He has several problems with his eyes and the change in air pressure causes him pain. The loud noise is a problem, too, but he was okay when I got home. Thanks!

    1. Yes! The camper has solar panels on the roof and I have three batteries that stay charged by the panels. I am also wired if I want to add any extra panels. A good investment if you want to boondock.

      Good to hear from you!
