After leaving Louisville, I began my way across Indiana. While driving, I spotted a sign for an Amish restaurant and stopped for an early dinner.
Schwartz Family Restaurant in Eckerty, Indiana Fried chicken, meatloaf, green beans, sour cream mashed potatoes, dressing, and delicious creamed peas
Homemade peanut butter pie
After dinner, I stopped in Santa Claus, Indiana. It was a nice town and so fitting to visit on Christmas Eve eve.
It was time to settle in for the night. This night I stayed at Hohl Farms in Huntingburg, Indiana. Hohl Farms is a row crop and livestock farm. I had a peaceful night’s sleep and left with farm fresh bacon!
A big thanks to Alex Hohl for hosting me and being so gracious. His farm is one of the locations you can stay at with Harvest Hosts. This is one of my favorite memberships & I will definitely renew it next year.
Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change.
Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy.
For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way.
Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!

Happy New year! Are you the only camper there? It looks safe & sound…
At the library we old ladies are commenting about how we wish we had traveled like you are when we were more able…’too much time reading books & the time flies by…
Yes, I was the only person there. Some of the places can only accommodate one camper or are limited by camper size. You have to check to make sure there is availability for the date you want and a few other things before you can request a stay on Harvest Hosts.
And I know you are every bit capable of doing this. As much as you have traveled, you would really enjoy it. I knew I was taking a big chance doing this, but I wouldn’t change a thing.
One thing I learned working at the library on Calabash is that life is short and you need to do things while you can. Good advice and I listened!
Wow what a life!! Your adventures are wonderful!! We are all living through you and loving it!! ..😊

Loving being able to keep up with your adventures. Brings back memories of a three week trip Barb and I took in 1972 with another couple and a one year old baby in a pop up trailer. We went from southern New Jersey to Salt Lake City with stops in Montana, South Dakota, etc. Oh, to be young again. Continue to have enjoyable and safe travels.
