I consider music an integral part of my life. I usually always have it playing and a lot of you have caught me singing along!
My son Rob loved music from the time he was born. I remember him singing Cher’s Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves in the car when he was only three years old. He was in band throughout middle & high school, took classes to become a DJ and had his first paying job as a drummer for a musical while he was still in high school. Our love of music is something we have always shared. We still call or send texts to each other when certain songs are on the radio.
So now I bet most of you are wondering who Gogol Bordello is. They are described as a Gypsy punk band with a Romani influence. They have a unique sound that I find infectious.

The frontman of Gogol Bordello is Eugene Hütz. He is a Ukrainian-born singer, composer, disc jockey, and actor. He has spoken out about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Gogol Bordello performed in a sold out benefit concert for the victims of the Ukrainian invasion. They will soon begin a benefit tour along the east coast with several shows in Virginia & North Carolina.
If you have the opportunity to see Gogol Bordello, prepare to see a high energy show from start to finish.
A bit of trivia: “Gogol” comes from Nikolai Gogol, a classical Ukrainian writer. He serves as an ideological influence for the band because he “smuggled” Ukrainian culture into Russian society, which Gogol Bordello intends to do with Romani/East-European music in the English-speaking world.
If you watch the videos, let me know what you think!
Thoughts of peace and love for the Ukraine. 🇺🇦

I am taking a music appreciation class
today and will share
this with my teacher.
I’ll let you know his
response.
I love you. Morie
