It’s hard to believe, but I’ve been on the road for a year! I started out in South Carolina, visited 17 states & landed in Montana, where I will be working until the end of October.
I have been to some amazing places, met a lot of people & seen a lot of things I had on my bucket list. By a stroke of luck, I am in Glacier National Park, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The wildlife here is plentiful & entertaining. The scenery changes every day, as do the people who get on & off my shuttle bus.

One of the people I met this week was Jennifer. She & her family were visiting from Washington, DC. After discussing their trip here, she shared that her husband was an RN at Walter Reed Medical Center. Jennifer works for a non-profit. They & their three children lived in Gambia for 6 years. Her husband taught AIDS awareness & prevention. They also worked with a local orphanage & fostered handicapped children. Jennifer told me that without the aid from countries like the US, people there could not survive. The hospitals don’t even have the basics like bandaids or aspirin. Most of the handicapped children she saw in the orphanage didn’t live past the age of four.
Not all of my interactions are so serious. This week I had folks from Hawaii, California, Louisiana & even South Carolina! One mother of three told me about her hobby—woodworking! She makes custom furniture in her garage.
I met a pharmacist & her husband from California. She works remotely and can travel now that her children are grown. They were in Yellowstone before coming to Glacier & picked up two hikers along the way who were traveling to Glacier. She said they had a great time driving here with them.
One of the other highlights of my time here is the wildlife. You never know where you might spot them either!

I often think of the friends I have made over the years & I want each of you to know what an impact you have had on me. I treasure all of the stories & experiences you have shared with me, as well as all the laughs and the tears. My life is so much fuller because of you. I am looking forward to seeing you the next time I’m nearby.
Love to everyone!

Happy to hear from you again. Glad you are still enjoying your travels. Will be thinking of you at our FOL board meeting this afternoon.

Wow, you are so inspirational! I’ve always wondered what it would be like to drive a Mercedes giant van around the country, but now fearful of doing it solo..
