Update from the Road

It has been a busy last few months. I have some photos from my time in Sidney, Montana & the Sugar Beet Harvest. I enjoyed the experience and learned so much about the whole process.

One thing I learned is to not be bothered by my vehicle being filthy. Working the harvest is a dirty job. I realized quickly that it was a waste of time to wash my car or attempt to keep it clean. We worked in mud. It was on our clothes, shoes, & in our cars.

The variety of shapes & sizes of beets varied. The largest beet found during the harvest was almost 20 pounds!

Can you see the resemblance of this sugar beet to Eduard Munsch’s The Scream?

I also worked with some great people from all over the US.

The last thing I took a lot of photos of are the spectacular sunrises & sunsets. We started work in the dark & went home as the sun went down.

I finished the harvest at the end of October & took a much needed vacation with my mom. Read more about our trip in my next post!

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!
