Vacation Time with Mom

After the Sugar Beet Harvest was completed, it was time to head to Billings, Montana. I drove my RV there & had it winterized because it would be sitting empty while I was on vacation. The pipes were at risk of freezing so I had to get it ready for the low temperatures & snow.

Cappy flew back east with me & he wasn’t a fan of airports or planes. He had to stay in his carrier the entire time. Luckily, the vet gave him something to help him relax & he slept the entire time.

Mom drove to meet me with her dog, Izzy. Both dogs had a vacation of their own with a wonderful friend who treated them like a king & queen.

I wish that I could say our trip started seamlessly, but we ran into some issues. Our flight to Rome was cancelled & rescheduled for the next day. We had to find lodging in NYC & cancel our plans for Lisbon.

Mom & I made it to Rome, but unfortunately her luggage did not. It was left in NYC & didn’t arrive until 3 days later!

We settled into our hotel & got some rest for our busy week in Rome. Read more about our adventures in the next post—it gets better!

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!
