Cruising to Málaga, Spain

After spending a wonderful week in Italy, it was time for Mom & I to board our cruise ship. We took a taxi to the cruise port, Civitavecchia, which is an hour outside of Rome. Our taxi driver drove like we were being chased by the police & we arrived in no time!

We settled into our cabin & enjoyed a nice lunch before setting sail to our first port of call, Málaga, Spain. Málaga is located on the southern Costa del Sol & is home to an 11th century Moorish fortress.

La Alcazaba, the Moorish fortress, & the Roman Amphitheater down below.

We hiked up to the top of La Alcazaba & enjoyed the view—-after we caught our breath!

A view of Malaga from the fortress.

After a day of hiking, shopping & sightseeing, we decided to have a cup of coffee & warm churros before heading back to our ship.

Next stop—the Canary Islands.

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!

    1. We did a transatlantic cruise starting from Rome (Civi.) with several stops along the Spanish coast. Of all the countries we visited in Europe our favorite was Spain.

      1. What I love about transatlantic cruises is that you gain time back incrementally as you cruise. Its so nice being back on east coast time when we get back to the US. Maybe one day we will be on the same ship!
