When I told people that I was headed to New Mexico for the winter, everyone assumed it would be hot & desert like. Boy, were they wrong!
I knew I was going to be working at a ski resort in the Southern Rockies with lots of cold weather & snow. We’ve gotten well over 100 inches this season & it is coming down today. We average 300 inches, so we are hoping to get some accumulation.

The snowfall amounts are so different in the town of Taos & Taos Ski Valley. I live in the town of Taos, which gets a fraction of the snow they get at Taos Ski Valley. The elevation makes all the difference. The town is right at 7,000 feet. The base of Taos Ski Valley is over 9,200 feet & the highest point, Kachina Peak is at 12,481 feet!

Mountain Stats

I can’t tell you how happy I am to have a 4 wheel drive vehicle! I haven’t had any issues getting around in the snow & my snow scraper is worth every penny.
My wardrobe now includes lots of socks, hats, gloves & scarves. I usually have on several layers of clothes. It takes some time getting dressed & undressed!
Stay tuned for more from New Mexico & Taos Ski Valley.

Beautiful place ! Too cold for Mom !

Wow hiking along that ridge was nerve wracking to watch. Not for me, but it certainly is a beautiful view.

It’s very pretty from afar, don’t like snow, don’t like to get stuck in it, it’s wet and cold, have to bundle up and wear wool, or silk thermals to stay warm, living in NYC, snow was horrible to deal with, I’m the opposite of people who hate the beach, sand and hot weather, but each his own pleasure, it’s pretty to look at from the beach lol, you enjoy it,
and keep posting, love to see all your adventures 👍❤️
