Taos is an hour & a half from Santa Fe. It is a city filled with art & culture. I made the drive there several times to sightsee—and shop at Trader Joe’s! I’m going to share some of the things that make Santa Fe such a unique place.
Camel Rock
On the drive to Santa Fe, you can’t help but spot Camle Rock. It is located on Highway 285 near Tesuque Pueblo. Camel Rock is a natural landmark composed of pink sandstone and measures about 40 feet high and 100 feet long. It has appeared in several movies, including The Man From Laramie, Cowboy, & Bojack Horseman.

Ethyl the Whale

Ethyl the Whale is an 82-foot-long, life-sized sculpture of a blue whale that holds the Guinness world record for largest recycled plastic sculpture. It is located on the campus of Santa Fe Community College.

Haiku Pathway
Santa Fe Communty College is a campus filled with art & sculptures. In the center of the courtyard is a pathway lined with 36 clay stones stamped with haiku, written by students at the college & notable New Mexico poets.

Below are some of the sculptures found on the Santa Fe Community College campus.

It wouldn’t be complete without talking about the meal I had while in Santa Fe.

On my first trip to Santa Fe, I stopped at the Sopaipilla Factory & had a delicious Indian Taco. It is all the usual taco fillings, but served on Indian fry bread.

All the meals are also served with a sopaipilla which is another type of deep fried pastry. Sopaipillas are thought to have originated in New Mexico over 200 years ago.

Santa Fe is one of my favorite places. And you always find the most interesting sights in the places you visit, and the most delicious food!
