Loving Denali National Park—I may decide to stay a while!

It took over a month and 5,000 miles to get from Taos, New Mexico to Denali National Park. It was worth every minute and every mile.

Desert Arch Window Rock, Utah

I drove through Utah, Colorado, Idaho & Montana before heading across the Canadian border. From there, I headed to Calgary and Banff, Yoho & Jasper National Parks.

My route took me across the Yukon Territory & over 1,000 miles on the Alaska Highway. I saw lots of stunning sights & spotted lots of wildlife.

I’ve been in Alaska now for over a month. I have settled into work & routine. The daylight lasts late into the night & it hasn’t been hard to adjust.

Stay tuned—I will be posting more about my travels soon!

Walking on Mendenhall Glacier in Denali National Park

Published by Christi Iffergan

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!

  1. We spent a couple of days in Denali on a tour of Alaska a few years ago. That Alaska trip was one of the highlights of our travels, so much so that we took the whole family on an Alaskan cruise later. Everyone absolutely loved Alaska! Enjoy your time there.

    1. I’m a tour guide of sorts. I’m driving flightseeing passengers to & from the airstrip for Denali Air. They take passengers on a 1 hour flight over the park to see the Denali mountain range. I will be posting more about it soon!

  5. Hi Christi, ‘Sounds like you like it up there!
I used to take hops up to Ankorage from Charleston & loved it.

I never made it to Denali, but always wished I had.

I took a train to Seward for the boat ride to the glaciers.

I can’t believe you’ve been gone almost 2 years already- the library isn’t the same without you. I hardly ever go-

    1. It’s so good to hear from you, Liz. The last 2 years have flown by for me, too. The weather here is the first thing I appreciate. It is cool at night & warm(ish) during the day. Compared to NC/SC, there is almost no humidity. The beauty here is stunning, from the mountains to the wildlife and all the shades of green trees. The wildflowers are blooming everywhere & I can’t wait to pick berries later this fall.

I’m looking forward to going to Seward next month. You should add Denali to your travel list. It is worth every minute of travel to get here. Take care & I hope our travel paths cross one day soon!
