Rose Hill, Manito Park, Spokane, Washington & Nellie Stewart Gills

I’m still catching up on posts, but today is hot off the press. I spent several hours at Rose Hill in Manito Park in Spokane, Washington.

I started an easy stroll around the park but was overcome with emotion. Being there brought back so many memories of my paternal grandmother, Nellie Stewart Gills. I told you a little about her in a past post & share more in my video today.

I try my best to be strong most of the time, but deep down, I’m a softie. It’s days like this that catch me off-guard and make me reminiscent.

It made me happy to think back to a time when I was young and loved by my grandmother. She was a beautiful, intelligent, caring woman. I hope she knew how much she meant to me & her influence on my life path.

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!

  3. How nice to hear about your grandma & grandpa, I also had a very special grandma too, my mom`s mother, she was she greatest ever, didn`t have much and worked hard her whole life as an RN,..
she taught me many things growing up she`d read to me, we`d bake cookies, she`d take me to the parks but most, she loved me no matter what, and passed that on to me, the love of life and to be kind to people. i miss her so much but she left me with many fond ,memories to look back on, she`ll be forever in my heart.

  4. Thank you. Just beautiful! I hope you get to (or have been already) to Buchart Gardens in Brentwood Bay, BC. Spectacular place. This reminded me of it. There is also a beautiful lavender farm, Pelindaba Lavender Farm on the San Juan Islands, a ferry ride out of Anacortes, WA. SUch beautiful sites and smells everywhere in the Pacific Northwest!

      1. Here is an online picture of the dahlia wall at Butchart Gardens. It goes on and on, some of them larger than dinner plates!
