Food, Glorious Food in Barcelona, Spain

One of my favorite ways to learn about a new city or country is by their food. Barcelona has such a wide variety of fresh markets, local grocery stands, cafés & restaurants. Michelle & I had fun exploring the week we were visiting.

Would you guess that our first meal in Barcelona was quiche? And not just any ordinary quiche. The Pan’s Club was voted the World’s Best Quiche in 2022!

We tried two varieties of quiche & roasted vegetables. After our comforting meal, we ended it with delicious coffee.

All along our walks in the city, we were tempted by lots of bakery windows, but we were well behaved… most of the time.

One of the local dishes on every menu was Pimientos de Padrón, roasted Spanish Padron peppers. We ate them as a tapas and with our meal. They were full of flavor and not too spicy. Here they are roasted & sprinkled with sea salt.

At the end of one of our sightseeing days, we ended up down by the water & had to try some fresh seafood.

One of my favorite meals was a lunch at one of the restaurants within walking distance of our hotel. This restaurant offered a small menu for lunch. It felt like fine dining, but my meal was less than $20.

The first course was a bowl of roasted vegetable soup with some bacon & a drizzle of herbed oil. The entree was roasted fish on a velvety bed of vegetable puree. Absolutely divine.

As for our last dinner in Barcelona, we went Italian. We had one of the best salads of our trip, authentic wood oven pizza with fresh mozzarella & basil, and, of course, more Sangria! We wanted to get our daily servings of fruit.

Don’t you love the plates here?

Last but not least, we stopped for gelato. Michelle made me do it. I swear!

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!
