Workcamping @ Amazon

I have so enjoyed working with all of the other Camperforce associates at Amazon and it is bittersweet that our time is coming to an end. We took a group photo yesterday to mark the occasion.

Back row:  Husband & wife Don & Lee, husband & wife James & Elizabeth, Anthony, husband & wife Shirley & Jim, and me.  Front row: Supervisor Will & HR associate. This picture was taken at 1 am!

I have appreciated working for Amazon the last three months.  The work is never-ending, the pay is extremely fair, but the best part of the job are the people.  I have met so many great people here in Kentucky.  Amazon and this facility, CVG 1, embrace the idea of  diversity and flourish.   Amazon has one of the most progressive inclusion policies of any company I have ever known.

We are a company of builders who bring varying backgrounds, ideas, and points of view to inventing on behalf of our customers. Our diverse perspectives come from many sources including gender, race, age, national origin, sexual orientation, culture, education, and professional and life experience. We are committed to diversity and inclusion and always look for ways to scale our impact as we grow.

The number of languages being spoken at any time in the breakroom is mind-boggling. I saw displays throught the facility celebrating Pride, transgender awareness, multiple holidays of every faith & religion, military veterans, and much more. Amazon has so many programs that engage the employees and make work fun. That is one of the things I will miss the most: laughing! In case you didn’t know, I am a joker. I love to laugh. I work hard, but always have a good time. The pictures below illustrate that perfectly!

I hope this isn’t the last time I see these beautiful people. ‘Til I see you again!

Hi! I am Christi, a full-time RV traveller since August 2021. I have always loved to travel, but COVID-19 put a stop to that. I was fast approaching 50, my condo was being placed up for sale and I was ready for a major change. Originally from a tiny town in rural Southwest Virginia, I am the mother to one son and a rescue Shih Tzu, Cappy. For the last 20 years, I worked in public library systems around the Charlotte & Myrtle Beach areas. I met some amazing people and made great friends along the way. Follow along on my adventures as I travel the US. I hope that our paths will cross one day!

  2. That’s the kind of job that doesn’t feel like a job . It’s fun to go in and be with your coworkers. That is rare. I’m sure you will miss them. Be careful as you travel to the next stop on your journey.

  3. Hi Christi, I am enjoying your blog immensely. You probably don’t know but I lived for 20 years about an hour north of where you have been staying. I had a job that required a lot of travel. I passed through CVG about 3 weeks a month and knew it like the back of my hand. Your blog has brought back a lot of memories.
I so admire your bravery. I’m curious about how you learned about work opportunities, house sitting, etc. I’m too old to do something like you are doing but I’m still curious.
Be well, have a wonderful Christmas and I’ll keep following your adventures.
    Best wishes,

    1. Diane, I just read an article about the best places to retire and they were Asheville, NC & Covington, KY! They are doing a lot of revitalization downtown and it is a hip, trendy place.

I learned about my jobs from workcamper.com. It is a fabulous resource for anyone with an RV who wants to travel and work.

I love hearing all of the stories from everyone , so please keep sharing. I hope you have a very happy new year!

    1. Liz, the jobs are with workcamper.com and the housesittings are with trustedhousesitters.com. Both do require memberships, but the rewards definitely outweigh the small yearly cost. I hope you have a happy, healthy new year!
